The Walldogs
Walldogs are a group of sign and mural artists from all over the globe. The tradition of painting wall advertisements dates back to the early 20th century.
Evidence of these paintings can be seen as "Ghost Murals" throughout cities of all sizes all over the United States as well as other parts of the world.
These mural painters of old were often called Walldogs because they were said to work like dogs. We have adopted this nickname for our group.
The Walldog movement began in Allerton, Iowa in the summer of 1993 with an event hosted by Nancy Bennett. The Allerton meet was the first official Walldog meet. Dozens of sign artists or "Letterheads" arrived in Allerton to paint several large historic wall murals. Since then the Walldog Movement has continued to
grow into an International membership of painters.
Each Summer, one or more Walldog events is planned by its members in collaboration with a city or town in the United States.
